Comet bowlers named to all-conference & all-district teams

Several Charles City bowlers as well as their coach received All-Northeast Iowa Conference and All-Class 3A Central District honors this week as bestowed by the Iowa Girls Coaching Association and the Iowa High School Bowling Coaches Association.

The Comet girls team, which set a school record for total team pinfall during its last dual meet of the regular season, had three girls named all-conference and all-district

Senior Imigin McHenry and sophomore Isabel Crawford, who placed fifth at the Class 1A Girls Individual State Tournament, were both named first-team all-conference and first-team all-district.

Junior Claire Girkin, who bowled most of the season left-handed while recovering from right-side shoulder surgery before switching back to right-handed several weeks before the postseason and later placed fourth at the Class 1A Girls Individual State Tournament, was named first-team all-conference and second-team all-district.

Sophomore Keaton Ross, who was the Class 1A Boys State-Qualifier individual champion, was named first-team all-conference and second-team all-district.

Charles City head coach Doug Bohlen was named the Girls Class 1A Central District “Coach of the Year”.
