DECORAH — Charles City junior Carson Gallup shot a personal-low high school varsity 18-hole score of 73 for medalist honors at Monday’s Northeast Iowa Conference boys golf meet at Oneota Golf and Country Club.

Comet junior Riley Perez also earned all-conference honors as his personal-low 85 score had him tied for 11th with Waverly-Shell Rock’s Caden Holtz.

Charles City shot an 18-hole season-low 345, good enough for fourth place behind meet winner Waverly-Shell Rock (315), led by individual runner-up Luke Frazell (77) and third-place finisher Noah Frazell (78); Decorah (337); and New Hampton (338).

Waukon (358) and Crestwood (372) rounded the field.

* At Monday’s Northeast Iowa Conference girls golf meet at New Hampton Golf and Country Club, Charles City senior Shelby Effle earned the distinction of being three-time all-conference golfer, Comet senior Alex Wohlers earned her second All-NEIC, and senior Mya Rimrod — relatively new to high school golf — also made the All-NEIC Top 15 cut.

Eiffle and Wohlers both shot 98s; Rimrod carded a 99. Wohlers’s and Rimrod’s scores were 18-hole personal-records,

Waverly-Shell Rock senior Brenna Bodensteiner shot a career-low 75 for medalist honors, 9 strokes ahead of Decorah junior and runner-up Maria Riveros.

New Hampton, led by junior Lauren Nuss’s 85, won the meet with a team score of 352 — 5 strokes ahead of runner-up Waverly-Shell Rock (357), Crestwood (391), Charles City (401), Decorah (414) and Waukon (475).

* At Saturday’s Bulldog Invitational hosted by Hampton-Dumont at the Hampton Golf and Country Club, Charles City junior Carson Gallup matched what was then a varsity personal-record 18-hole low of 74 while earning medalist honors while helping the Comets placed fourth among six teams with a total score of 369.

Iowa Falls-Alden, behind Karson Kalous’s runner-up score of 78, won the meet with a 337 team score.

Forest City, behind Jack Harms’s third-place 82 score, placed second (352); Hampton-Dumont placed third (369); North Butler, behind Nolan Reser’s third-place score of 84, placed fifth; and West Hancock placed sixth (406).
