Comet girls ranked No. 10 in Class 1A by IAwrestle

The Charles City girls wrestling team is ranked No. 10 among Class 1A girls teams in the first set of rankings released by IAwrestle this week.

Decorah is atop the Class 1A girls team rankings.

All three of Charles City’s returning state-qualifiers are ranked in their respective brackets.

Sophomore Sophia Calpito is ranked No. 3 among Class 1A 100-pounders; senior Destin Kolheim is ranked No. 7 among Class 1A 155-pounders; and senior Leah Stewart, a returning fifth-place state medalist, is ranked No. 3 among Class 1A 190-pounders.

In the Class 1A boys rankings, Nashua-Plainfield is listed at No. 8 with Don Bosco atop the Top 10.

Husky senior Jayden Rinken is the top-ranked Class 1A boys 132-pounder.

Senior Nic Brase (113, No. 6), senior Jackson Carey (157, No. 6) and senior Isaac Jones (285, No. 8) are the other ranked N-P wrestlers.
