Comet bowlers topple Forest City
Press Staff Report
FOREST CITY — After averaging more than 230 per game, how many bowlers can claim that they had an off night?
Charles City sophomore Noah White is one of the few if not first who comes to mind.
White rolled a 462 two-game series during the individual round while helping the Comet boys bowling team defeat Forest City 2,912 to 2,735 at the Super Bowl — a bowling establishment in FC just to clarify.
While White’s series led all bowlers, it was under his season average (232.07) which ranks him third among the state’s boys in all classes.
Junior Sullivan Gerleman (381 series), junior Bryce Elsbury (375), senior Keaton Ross (366) and senior Zach Putney (349) rounded out the individual scoring for Charles City (5-2).
The Comet girls also improved to 5-2 for the season with a one-sided win (2,433 to 1,876) over the Indians.
Senior two-time state qualifier Isabel Crawford led the Comet girls with a 386 two-game series with senior Payton Hadley (362), sophomore Kinleigh Bahe (350), senior Darian Hesse (310) and freshman Alexis Putney (294) rounding out the individual scores for CC.
The following Saturday at a team tournament hosted by Independence at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo, Charles City’s boys placed third and CC’s girls placed fifth.
Both Comet squads will return to Cadillac Lanes this Friday (Jan. 31) for duals against Columbus Catholic.
