Comet boy and girl bowling squads sunk by Sailors

WATERLOO — Both Charles City’s boys and girls bowling teams suffered dual-meets losses to Columbus Catholic at the Sailors’ home alley at Cadillac Lanes.
The Comet boys fell to 5-3 after the Sailors improved to 8-1 with final pinfall totals of 3,205-3,075.
Charles City senior Zach Putney led the Comets in the individual round with a two-game series of 460, followed by junior Sullivan Gerleman (459), freshman Cooper Holm (413), sophomore Noah White (413) and junior Bryce Elsbury (396).
The Comet girls also fell to 5-3 after losing a close match to the 7-2 Sailors 2,476-2,406.
Charles City was led by senior Isabel Crawford (420) in the individual round, followed by senior Payton Hadley (325), sophomore Kinleigh Bahe (307), freshman Alexis Putney (269) and junior Kayla Streich (235).
