Gallup medalist for Comets in 151-164 boys golf loss to Go-Hawks
Press Staff Report
WAVERLY — Charles City senior Carson Gallup attained his first meet medalist score of the boys golf season after shooting a nine-hole 35 during Monday’s dual meet against Waverly-Shell Rock at Waverly Municipal Golf Course.
Senior Nick Williams also shot under 40 (39) for the Comets during the windy playing conditions. But the Go-Hawks fielded three golfers who shot in the 30s — junior Aiden Gielau (36), senior Luke Frazell (37) and senior Hudson Kroymann (38) — and won the meet by 13 stokes (151-164).
Senior Riley Perez shot the third-lowest score (40) for the Comets, who were without their regular No. 3 golfer — junior Bryce Walker — who was participating in State FFA.
Senior Keaton Ross and junior Sawyer Hanson each shot 50s for the Comets’ fourth score.
The Comet boys will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at Bos Laden Golf Club in Pella for the two-day, 36-hole Dutch Masters Tournament.
