Bloker’s ‘Hat Trick’ lifts Comet girls past Pirates, 4-3, during ‘Senior Night’

CHARLES CITY — Comet sophomore midfielder/forward Nevaeh Bloker recorded a “hat trick” when scoring 3 goals during Charles City girls soccer team’s 4-3 win over Postville, Thursday at Comet Field.
Freshman Savannah Bloker scored Charles City’s other goal while helping the Comets improve to 4-5-1 late into their first season playing at the varsity level. Postville fell to 2-7
The match was part of a varsity boys/girls doubleheader and Charles City’s “Senior Night” for both squads.
The subsequent boys game was also decided by 1 goal, but this time with the Pirates prevailing 3-2 with senior Melvin Martin scoring a goal and getting credited with an assist for Postville (9-3-1).
Junior Jackson Kowalski had a goal, sophomore Peyton Sargent had a goal, and sophomore Voldymyr Gopei was credited with an assist for the Comets (1-10-1).
Both Comet squads will be back in action next Thursday (May 15) while hosting a varsity doubleheader against New Hampton.
Kickoff for the girls match is at 5 p.m.; boys match to follow at approximately 7 p.m.
