Rimrod, Bahe shoot career lows at girls golf regional

MANCHESTER — Charles City senior Mya Rimrod and sophomore Kinleigh Bahe both shot prep career 18-hole low scores while placing in the Top 20 among individuals during Wednesday’s Class 3A-Region 5 Girls Golf Tournament at Pin Oak Pub and Links.
Rimrod, who was an All-Northeast Iowa Conference golfer her junior season, scored a 98; Bahe, who was All-NEIC for the first time this season; got under triple-digits for the first time with a 99.
The Comets placed sixth with a team score of 411 in their final meet of the season.
Wahlert Catholic, behind sophomore medalist Erin Mueller, placed first with a combined score of 341 — 19 shots lower than runner-up Benton.
HUSKIES ADVANCE TO STATE: At the Class 1A Regional Final held Wednesday at Little Bear Country Club in Wyoming, Nashua-Plainfield made the state cut as a team with a second-place score of 374 — Easton Valley placed first (360).
Husky seniors Paige Franzen and Faith Franzen shot 18-hole scores of 84 and 91 for respective third- and seventh-place individual finishes.
Junior Elayna O’Neill (98) and Paisley McCain (101) rounded out the scoring for Nashua-Plainfield, which will finish the season at the Class 1A Girl Golf State Tournament next Thursday and Friday (May 29-30) at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
Wapello freshman Emmalin Marshall placed first among individuals with an 82.
