OELWEIN — Runs have been hard to come by for the winless Charles City Comets this baseball season, but their offense made a little noise during Monday’s 11-8 loss against Oelwein on the road.

Junior leadoff hitter and Charles City team captain Vinny Benning was 2 for 4 with a triple and 3 RBIs; senior Jackson Ruzicka had a 2-RBI double and scored all three times he was on base — he was hit by pitches for the two other times; and junior Sawyer Hanson was 1 for 2 with an RBI, scored a run, and pitched a scoreless and hitless inning of relief for the Comets (0-6).

Oelwein leadoff hitter Brady Burkhart had an RBI triple and scored a run while helping the Huskies (1-5) achieve their first victory of the season.

The Comets will be back in action on Friday (June 6) when they travel to Waukon for a Northeast Iowa Conference doubleheader against the Indians.
