CEDAR FALLS — The Charles City/Nashua-Plainfield/Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock trap shooting team concluded its season Sunday during the final day of the Scholastic Clay Target Program State Meet held at the Cedar Falls Gun Club.

Though the team didn’t produce a state champion like it did in 2022 when Charles City graduate Colton Crooks hit 249 out of 250 targets — his only miss was during the shootoff with the firing line moved back two stages from the trap house — it did display competitive marksmanship from several of its members.

During the high school standard singles shoot on Sunday, Nashua-Plainfield shooter Lane Barlow led the three-school team with 189 targets hit out of 200 clays.

Cole Jones hit 188 clays followed by Hunter Boehmer (187), Kyler Eskildsen (186), Hunter Brase (185) and Nic Brase (185) to round out the top CC/NP/RRMR male shooters.

Kinley Roths (179), Ali Blickenderfer (175) and Abby Groesbeck (175) were the top CC/NP/RRMR female shooters during singles at state.

Several CC/NP/RRMR participated in the handicap competition, which was held the previous Wednesday at the state meet.

With the firing line moved back to 19 yards from the trap house (standard firing line distance is 16 yards), Barlow hit 91 out of 100 clays to lead all CC/NP/RRMR handicap shooters.

Boehmer and Hunter Brase each hit 90 out of 100 from 19 feet, and Tate Demro hit 89 while representing CC/NP/RRMR.
