Press Staff Report

DES MOINES — The 12U Bombers Softball Team shelled the competition to the tune of outscoring it 49-8 while winning the Iowa USSSA C State Tournament held June 7-8 in Des Moines.

The Bombers came out on top of a 12-team bracket featuring teams from across Iowa and one team from Nebraska for their fourth tournament championship in a row.

The team is coached by Sammy Gintz Jr., Devon Murray and Delaney Ruzicka.

The 10U Bombers are also having a successful spring/summer season as they recently placed first at a tournament in Osage while outscoring the competition 33-3. The 10U Bombers had five inside-the-park home runs during the tournament.

The 10U team is coached by Dillion Solomon, Mike Tracey and Lisa Rude.

The 14U Bombers, coached by Jesse Gifford and Kady Korbel, were also victorious in Osage last weekend.

Bombers Softball was started four years ago out of love for the sport and to help improve players’ skills. The program started with one team made up entirely of Charles City players. The Bombers have since grown into four teams and include players from other regional small towns.

The Bombers are scheduling tryouts on July 7.

For more information about tryouts, or about the Battle of the Cedar Softball Tournament the Bombers will host on June 21 (12U) and June 22 (8/9) at Sportsmen’s Park, visit their Facebook page: Bombers Softball.
