Downtown Charles City was the place to be Saturday morning, as warmth and sunshine greeted the first farmers market of the season.
Locally grown and organic produce, baked goods, honey, plants and flowers, as well as craft items and more were right there for the picking, and Charles City neighbors and friends met and conversed.
The Charles City Downtown Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays and from 3:30-6 p.m. on Wednesdays through Oct. 20. It is held in and adjacent to Central Park along Blunt Street.
Some of the vendors participate in the WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program and WIC Cash Value Voucher program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program.
The farmers market is organized by Community Development and a vendor committee. Vendor stalls are still available. For more information, call 641-228-2335 or email info@charlescitychamber.com.
