Charles City choral departments perform winter show

It was standing-room only Monday evening at North Grand Auditorium in Charles City as the Comet seventh-and-eighth-grade choral departments joined the Charles City High School choral departments to present their 2018 Winter Concert.
The vocal music was directed by CCMS Director Tara Dean, CCHS Director Derek Sturtevant and student teacher Bailey Condon. Accompanists were Chris Cleveland on piano and Bethany Rhine on violin.
The seventh-and-eighth-grade treble clef opened the performance with “12 Days After Christmas” by Frederick Silver. The seventh-and-eighth-grade choir then performed “Hallelujah” by Roger Emerson and “Shout the News!” by Sally K. Albrecht. The seventh-and-eighth-grade bass clef performed “Who Will Be a Witness?” by Donald Moore, followed by vocal group 2JazzedUp’s performance of “Come and See the Baby” by Ruth Morris Gray.
The Comet Chorus then performed “A Field of White” by Amy F. Bernon and “African Noel” by Victor C. Johnson. The vocal group Rhymes With Orange performed “Goin’ to Bethlehem” by Jay Althouse, and the Charles City High School Concert Choir concluded the evening with “Break Forth O’ Beautious Heavenly Light” by J.S. Bach, “Glow” by Eric Whitacre and “Brightest and Best” by Shawn Kirchner.
