CC Cares has been hosting an annual Thanksgiving Day community dinner for more than 25 years.

Now the group has expanded to Christmas.

The local volunteer organization will host a Christmas Day meal that will include soup, bread and desserts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Volunteers are needed for the meal, and CC Cares encourages the public to come and spend time with neighbors and friends.

More than 30 CC Cares volunteers served somewhere between 350 and 400 individuals at Messiah church on Thanksgiving this year. The community meals are designed as a way to help ensure no one has to eat alone during the holiday.

A freewill donation was requested from each diner, and the money raised will provide seed money for future community dinners and other CC Cares community events.
