Six of nine Charles City FFA events earn Gold, three advance to State

Charles City FFA members earned Gold status in six of nine events, with three of those events advancing to the Iowa State FFA Convention in competition Saturday at the 2021 North Central District FFA Career Development Events (CDEs) and Convention.

The Charles City FFA had 33 members participating. Due to COVID restricts, the event was held as a show and go, with the Charles City members competing from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and then heading back to Charles City.

The Parliamentary Procedure group of Maya Bruening, Zach Chambers, Olivia Litterer, Lilly Luft, Lydia Staudt, and Natalie White earned Gold and advanced to State, as did the Ag Issues and Perceptions group of Gillian Anderson, Brady Frascht, Ashlyn Hoeft, Dan Laube, Sarah Mitchell, Sofie Nettleton and Brayton Quade.

Drew Staudt also earned Gold status and advanced to State in the Ag Sales event. Those advancing to FFA State will compete at the 2021 Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference in Des Moines on April 19.

During the convention, Charles City FFA Members Bronson Forsyth (district president), Gillian Anderson (district vice president) and Drew Staudt (district sentinel) led the virtual business meeting and announced results of the CDEs.

Additionally, during the virtual business session, Charles City FFA members Daniel Laube and Delaney Ruzicka acted as delegates and voted on the 2021-2022 North Central District Officer Team.

Events earning Gold status and being designated as alternates to State included Cael Ruzicka in Ag Broadcasting; Evan Bjelica, Sydney Otto, Sydney Peterson, Delaney Ruzicka, Alec Staudt, Kalia Richard, Corbin Harris, and Harley Hinz in Experience the Action; and Lauren Staudt, Taylor Quade, Annemarie Hansen, Madison Haus, Aubrey Hoeft, Annemarie Hansen and Evan Salinas in Conduct of Meetings.

Charles City’s Josette Benning and Jada Litterer earned Silver for Chapter Program, Kiki Connell earned Silver for Public Speaking and Justin Heyer earned Bronze for Chapter Website.

Members recognized for FFA Academic Achievement at the district event included Gillian Anderson, Quincy Bill, Evan Bjelica, Kiki Connell, Justin Heyer, Daniel Laube, Sarah Mitchell, Ryan Nettleton, Cael Ruzicka, Hope Slinger, Alec Staudt and Drew Staudt.
