Charles City Central Park lighting attraction kicks off Saturday night

Charles City’s Central Park will be awash in Christmas lights starting Saturday, Nov. 27. Business, organizations and individuals have set up displays for Santa’s Shining Lights in the park, coordinated by the Charles City Satellite Rotary Club and Main Street Charles City.

The kick-off event on Nov. 27 is scheduled from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will include a lighting ceremony for Santa’s Shining Lights at 5:30 p.m., food trucks from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., a decorated live tree, hot cocoa at The McCoy Smoothies and More, and fireworks shot off the Main Street Bridge at 7 p.m.

Memory Lane along Riverside Drive to the Walking Bridge will also be lighted beginning Nov. 27.

Events will be held every Saturday until Christmas, with Santa arriving by horse and buggy on Dec. 4.
