Seven teachers apply for early retirement

Staff report

The Charles City Board of Education will hold a special meeting Friday at 4 p.m. to review seven early retirement applications.

Teaching staff members Nancy Western, Lynn Feller, Vicki Krumwiede, Roxanne Kennedy, Janet Boge, Shirley Holm and Barbara Lauterbach have all submitted applications for early retirement from the district. According to Friday’s public agenda, the teachers have worked in the Charles City Community School District from 21 to 40 years. The district also has an application from one support staff member, Cheryl Sonberg.

Superintendent Dr. Dan Cox is recommending the board accept all early retirement applications. The board will also review appointments of four new staff members, including two 5-12 math teachers, a special education teacher and one Dean of Students position.
