Allen Hawke

Allen Hawke, 55, of Charles City, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.

A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at a later date.

Allen Dan Hawke, the son of Dan and Mariel (Hall) Hawke, was born on Oct. 15, 1965 in Floyd County. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1984. He was united in marriage to Vicky Applegate; to this union Corey and Tyler were born. The couple later divorced. He then married Michelle “Shellie” Munson in February 2006.

Allen started working for Solvay Animal Health, then at Pfizer where he was a manager. He moved to Illinois to continue working in environmental health and safety. He then returned to Iowa where he owned and operated Hawke’s Nest Café in Frederika. Allen then had the greatest job of all, spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Allen loved to work with his hands with woodworking, go camping, and watched NASCAR every Sunday.

Living family members include his wife, Shellie; sons, Corey (Nikki) and Tyler (Brooke); stepchildren: Bridget (Josh) Nosbisch, Tony (Bethanie) Holschlag, Samantha Holschlag, and Ashley (Dan) Shirley; grandchildren: Mckynlee, Ryker, Carter, Theodore, Nora, Mya, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Owen, Lily, Camden, Ambree, Rianen, Payten, and Grace; mother, Mariel Kilby; sister, Janet (Bruce) Delap; and brother, Brian (Susanne) Hawke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan; grandsons, Gavin and Jaxen; and stepfather, Ken Kilby.
