Ronald Krause Albaugh

Ronald Krause Albaugh, formerly a Charles City resident, died peacefully in his chair on July 16, 2021 in Springfield MO, 10 days before his 94th birthday.

Ronald graduated from Charles City High School in 1945. While in high school he played his saxophone in the concert and the marching bands. His love of music, especially the big bands, followed him throughout his life. For many years he played in the city band in Aurora, MO.

After high school Ron attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan for two years. Then he returned to Charles City to work with his dad at the Albaugh Pontiac Dealership.

In 1951 he married Alfreeda Joan Swinton at the Central Methodist Church in Charles City. In 1959, he moved his wife and two daughters to Ottumwa, IA, where he worked as an accountant. Later they relocated to Topeka, KS where he began his new business, Dr.’s Management Service. In 1968, they moved to Springfield, MO where he continued serving many doctors in the area.

Ron had many hobbies and interests during his long life. He served in the Iowa National Guard for eight years. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He belonged to the Antique Car Club of Springfield. His 1956 Chevy was always polished and ready to go. Ron was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church where he took part in the Methodist Church Builders, repairing and building homes for people affected by natural disasters. He also built and flew model airplanes and he built model cars, He was an avid reader.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Lee Albaugh, former mayor of Charles City; his mother Ortha (Krause) Albaugh; his wife Alfreeda in 2012; his son in law Charlie Raper in 2015; and his sister in law Lou Albaugh in 2017.

He is survived by his daughters LeAnn Keeslar and Susan Raper of Springfield, MO. his grandchildren Wes and his daughter Ashlyn, Amelia, and Charlie all of Springfield; Dr. Emily Kreman, her husband, Craig, and their children Collins and Sloane of Joplin, MO. Ron is also survived by his brother, Merlyn of Brentwood, TN and his two children, Brad, of St. Louis, MO and Jane of Nashville, TN.

Ron’s ashes will be buried later beside Alfreeda’s in Springfield, MO. There will be a memorial service at that time.
