John Young

John Young, 83, of Rockford, passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City and will be livestreamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook Page.

A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour before the service.

John Albert Young, the son of Albert and Olive (Reierson) Young, was born on March 14, 1938 in Brainerd, Minnesota. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1957. John was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Hall in 2003.

John was a sales trainer for Ecowater in Woodbury, Minnesota and a motivational speaker for various companies. He was a member of the Nora Springs golf course and was an avid bowler. He enjoyed his time outdoors hunting and fishing. John was a fan of Minnesota Twins Baseball, Minnesota Wild Hockey and Minnesota Vikings Football.

Living family members include his wife, Ginny; sons: Scott Kiehne of Rockford, Minnesota and Randy (Margaret) Kiehne of Hammond, Wisconsin; granddaughter, Alyssa Kiehne of Rush City, Minnesota; stepsons: Jeff (Lisa) Wells of Columbia, Missouri, Jay (Laurie) Wells of Iowa City, Jim (Marlys) Wells of Boone, and John Wells of Rockford; sister, Joanne (Roger) Nuehring of Hampton; brother, Richard (Kay) Young of Cedar Rapids; close friends, Jerry and Karen Schlader; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Kiehne; and brother, Jim Young.
