Kenny was born on Sept. 15, 1946 to Robert and Eva (Rudebeck) Crooks. He was one of seven children. He attended school in Rudd, and graduated in 1964 from Charles City High School.

Kenny met Mary Retterath at the racetracks at Midway and they were married on March 20, 1965. Kenny and Mary went on to have three children, Mary (deceased), Paula and Jeffrey.

Kenny owned Sperry Transportation hauling White Farm tractors for twelve years. He then went on to work for Allied Construction. Kenny enjoyed golfing, pickleball, handball, dancing to Endless Summer with his wife Mary, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Whenever we hear the Statler Brothers or Shania Twain, we will think of Kenny as those were two of his favorites. He was a member of the YMCA, Elks Lodge, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church throughout his life.  Kenny was always on the move, you never saw him sit still for long.  Even a leg amputation didn’t stop him!

He is survived by his wife Mary; children: Paula Crawford (Trevor) and Jeffrey Crooks (Kerry); eight grandchildren: Hunter Crawford, Addie Ward (Andrew), Connor Crooks, Kylah Crooks, Kelsi Crooks, Chase Crooks, Isabel Crawford, and Ethan Crawford; one great-grandson, Henry Kenneth Ward; four siblings: David Crooks (Maralee), Ronald Crooks (Denise), Diana Crooks Reams Clites, and Jan Wheat (Duane); sister-in-law, Dorothy Crooks; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eva Crooks; infant daughter, Mary Crooks; infant granddaughter, Alexandra Crawford; and brothers: Keith and Alden Crooks.

Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, 1205 South Main Street, Charles City, Iowa 50616 is in charge of local arrangements. Online condolences may be left on the Tribute Wall for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
