Indians spoil Charles City girls ‘Senior Night’

CHARLES CITY — Kelsi Crooks scored a game-high 22 points — 14 of which came in the first half — but it wasn’t enough for the Charles City Comets girls basketball team to prevent visiting Waukon from spoiling its “Senior Night” Friday as the Indians won, 56-44.

Charles City senior Jamie Sindlinger had 13 points, but fouled out with 4:15 left in regulation as the Comets were trying to cut Waukon’s lead to single digits.

Indian 6-foot-1 freshman McKenzie Cooper led the Indians with 18 points, much of which coming from her left-handed hook bank shot.

The Comets are back in action Tuesday when the travel to face Northeast Iowa Conference rival Waverly-Shell Rock.
