Comet boys ‘Bake’ up highest total at Conference Bowling Tournament

WATERLOO — Averaging better than 187 in 20 games, the Charles City boys bowling team compiled the highest Baker Rotation team total at Wednesday’s Conference Tournament held at Cadillac Lanes.

The Comets’ 3,749 pinfall was the highest in the field of 12 teams including the other top four finalists — Decorah (3,655), Waverly-Shell Rock (3,343) and Oelwein (3,314).

The Charles City girls had the fifth-best Baker total (2,137) behind Tripoli (2,766), Forest City (2,754), Decorah (2,617) and Columbus Catholic (2,556).

Going into their final dual meet of the season, Charles City’s boys are undefeated (9-0) while the Comet girls are 7-2. They will host North Iowa at Comet Bowl on Friday with the meet starting time moved up to 3:30 p.m.
