The music group Highway 9 rocked Central Park while kids and families participated in games Friday, as it was “Family Game Night” at Charles City’s Party in the Park event.
The fun included the crowning of the 2019 Floyd County Fair Queen — Anna Krumwiede — as well as free hands-on activities for the kids, including a big sandbox, play stations, bean bag boards, a giant Yahtzee game and sack races.
Highway 9 is a northeast Iowa and southern Minnesota cover band with favorite legends, mainstream artists and popular bands in its musical repertoire.
Food and treat vendors included Hy-Vee, Island Grill, Maria’s Tacos, Cal’s Mini Donuts, “Here’s the Scoop” ice cream and the Rotary popcorn wagon — as well as the Pubcrawlers’ beer garden.
Other games included Bethany Alliance’s 9 Square games, I.C. School’s mini-golf and carnival games, the Bridge Barrel Train, Boy Scout Peddle Cars, Ring Toss and corn hole toss sponsored by the North Iowa Marine Detachment.
Now in its 17th season, Party in the Park is hosted by Community Revitalization and made possible through the support of local businesses.
