The menu included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and the other fixings — as well as an ample array of desserts to choose from.

The company included teachers, students and parents.

Washington and Lincoln Elementary Schools in Charles City served a family-style Thanksgiving meal Thursday.

Family members and staff members were invited to eat with the students for free and to help dish out meals. The Charles City Foods Program employees thought the event would be a good opportunity to teach family style dining — which means the server brings out the food to the table and the diners serve themselves — to those who may not have the chance to eat that way at home.
