Kenin Neve, age 28, was arrested in December and charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony, for allegedly taking approximately $6,200 of cash and merchandise from the Charles City Kmart.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Floyd County District Court, Neve was observed by store security and management placing cash in his pocket from a store cash bag.

A plea hearing has been set for April 21. Hearings now are mostly being held electronically.

After the plea hearing was set, the Iowa Department of Corrections applied to the court for Neve to be released from its supervision.

“He has been compliant with his pretrial supervision since his release from custody,” wrote Megan Deitrick, a probation and parole officer with the Iowa department.

Judge Peter Newell modified Neve’s conditions of release to show that he is released on his own recognizance.
