Janet (Schilling) Walker

Janet (Schilling) Walker, 72, of Emily, Minn., formerly of Red Wing, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015 at the Crosby Care Center.

She was born on April 19, 1943 in Charles City to Victor and Lou (Meiner) Schilling. She grew up there and graduated from high school in 1961. On Sept. 5, 1964 she married Keith Walker. She worked at a variety store and at Citizens Bank in Charles City until they moved to Red Wing, Minn. in 1970. For a number of years she worked at White Rock Bank in White Rock and then as a supervisor at ProAct. Janet and Keith moved up to Emily, Minn. in 2010. She loved to host guests at her lake home, relished spending time with her beloved family and she was always trying new recipes in the kitchen. She also had a green thumb when it came to gardening. She is survived by her husband, Keith; three sons, Bruce (Shannon) of Red Wing, Minn., Brian (Dana) of Red Wing, Minn., and Kevin (Mary) Walker of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Nathan, Bryanna, Douglas, and Charles Walker; eight brothers, Greg (Carla) of Waterloo, Jeff of St. Cloud, Minn., Randy (Loretta) of Charles City, Steve (Gloria) of California, Jerry (Mickie) of Red Wing, Minn., Tom of Charles City, Dan of Charles City, and Ron (Carrie) of Ohio; two sisters, Connie (Rick) Palmersheim and Lori Davies, both of the Twin Cities; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing, Minn. with the Rev. Arte Sharot officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
