Fred Castle Jr.

Fred Castle, Jr., 61, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Fred Eugene Castle, Jr., the son of Ilona (Essman) and Fred Castle, Sr., was born on May 5, 1959 in Charles City. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1977. Fred was united in marriage to Terri Haack on Nov. 15, 1980 in DeWitt, Iowa.

Fred started working for the railroad at the age of 18. His first 10 years was with Chicago Northwestern and then 26 years with Canadian National. He retired in September 2013 after 36 years. He loved to golf, draw, and be outdoors tending to his yard.

Living family members include his wife, Terri; children: Fred (Megan) Castle III and April (Nick) Wegner; seven grandchildren: Fiona, Lydia, and Mara Castle and Emma Kuennen, Edith, and Everly Wegner; and two sisters: June (Doug) Temple and Kris (Jim) Shatek.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
