Mabel June Weiner, the daughter of Fredrick Herman and Mabel (Anway) (Stoddard) Weiner, was born on June 26, 1938 in Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1956. After graduation, she worked at Woolworth Store, then at Oliver as a secretary, and later at Ben Franklin Department Store in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mabel was introduced to Gordon Stewart and dated while he served in the army, then when planning a trip to see the love of her life stationed in Hawaii, he surprised her by coming home early and proposing. They were united in marriage on March 27, 1960 at First Baptist Church in Charles City, Iowa. Their love lasting for 60 years and blessed with six children.

Mabel was the secretary, vice president, and president of the UMW at the Floyd United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting ceramics, drawing, and doodling on paper. She loved singing, reading scriptures, and watching movies. She really enjoyed baking with her kids and grandchildren. She would have treats ready for the children when they would get home from school. Mabel loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially going on picnics. She had a goofy sense of humor that everyone loved.

Mabel loved her life and started a story talking about her younger days to share with her family. Her most important roles and accomplishments in her life were farm wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved Gordon and was with him right to the end of his life.
