Melanie Hibner

Melanie Hibner, 51, of Charles City. passed away peacefully at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest home on Jan. 12, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Melanie will be cremated, and inurnment in a private graveside service will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Melanie Michelle (CImmiyotti) Hibner, the daughter of Ronald and Janet (Weatherwax) Cimmiyotti, was born Sept. 13, 1969 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended school and graduated from Charles City High School in 1988. She was united in marriage to Ed Hibner on Sept. 20, 1998, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City, where they made their home and raised two sons, Zach and Alex.

Melanie worked in food service for both 9th Street Chautauqua and the Knights of Columbus. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and St. Francis Circle. She shared in bible studies with her mother, and more recently joined a faith formation study group. Her faith community was important to Melanie, and she appreciated the prayer support she received.

Melanie loved her “fur babies,” especially her four cats and puppy. She will be remembered for her care and concern for her family, as well as her hope-filled and joyful spirit..

Living family members include her husband, Ed; two sons, Zach and Alex; her parents Ron and Jan; and her brother, Brian, all of Charles City; a step daughter, Amanda and her special “little brother” Justin Cimmiyotti and his wife Angela, of Osage; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her mother-in -law, Marge Hibner, and her grandparents.
