A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home Facebook page at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021. Inurnment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fort Atkinson, Iowa

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the funeral Mass at the church on Friday.

The day after graduation from Charles City High School Pauline hopped on a train to marry the love of her life, Elmer Tupy, stationed in California. They were married 60 years and were blessed with three children.

Throughout the years, Pauline worked various clerical jobs, retiring from the Floyd County Medical Center Clinic (as it is known today).

Pauline devoted her life to her spouse, children and grandchildren. She loved her family and was very proud of them. Pauline made sure each grandchild received a baby afghan made by her. She was known for her great homemade meals and baked goods. She was a familiar face at her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Pauline loved music and followed her daughter’s band at every performance. She was well known around the community for her rendition of “Bill Bailey”.

Living family members include her children: Pat (Richard) Smith, Annette (James) Tupy and Frank (Carol) Tupy; grandchildren: Caroline (Ryan) Kirwin, Julia Smith, McKayla (Ben) Hadacek, Isaac Tupy, Johnathan Tupy and Brody Tupy; two great-granddaughters: Haley Kirwin and Alaina Hadacek; sister, Beverly (Duane) Kollman; along with extended family members and friends.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer, on May 30, 2014; and siblings: Gerry Reed, Ruth Smith, Jesse Taylor, Betty Lou Brown, Calvin Taylor and Thelma Kellogg.

Once again, we are sure Pauline and Elmer are dancing to the angels’ harps, and if you listen carefully, you can hear, “Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home”.

Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, 1205 South Main Street, Charles City, Iowa 50616 is in charge of local arrangements. Online condolences may be left on the Tribute Wall for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
