Lucille Solberg

Lucille Solberg, 87, of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage with her loving family by her side.

A funeral service for Lucille Solberg will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Norman Bauer officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Rudd.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service on Tuesday at the church.

Lucille Arlene (Kofoot) Solberg, the daughter of Ernest and Martha (Robeoltman) Kofoot, was born on Nov. 21, 1935, in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1953. On April 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Marvin Solberg at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. To this union, the couple had four children: Cynthia, Brian, Craig, and Karen.

Prior to marriage, Lucille worked at Anthony’s Clothing Store and was a waitress at a café in Osage. After moving to the farm with Marvin in 1965, Lucille dedicated her life to being a devoted farm wife and mother. Lucille was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church and belonged to the women’s bible circles. She was a 4-H leader, served on the 4-H county committee and served on the Floyd Community Center Board. Lucille loved to play BINGO, cards, and belonged to a neighborhood card club. She also enjoyed sewing, needle art, and solving puzzle books. Most of all, Lucille loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Living family members include her children: Cindy (Jim) Bradley of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Lisa) of Waverly, Craig (Michelle) of Des Moines, and Karen (Steve) Krumwiede of Charles City; grandchildren: Melissa (Paul) Stenzel, Blake (Courtney) Solberg, Kaitlynn Solberg, Matthew (Meghan) Bradley, Derek Bradley, Megan Solberg, and Anna Krumwiede; great-grandchildren: Jay Stenzel, Connor Stenzel, and two great-grandsons on the way; siblings: Ralph “Pete” Kofoot, Leo Kofoot, Lyle Kofoot, Donald Kofoot, and Donella Kline; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin in 2021; sister, Helen Mae Liekweg; brother, Marvin Kofoot; grandson, Nicholas Solberg; and niece, Bethany Kofoot.

Memorials may be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City.
