Janice E. Townsley

Janice E. Holtz Townsley passed away March 9, 2023, at her home. Jan’s wishes were to have no service or viewing. She chose to be cremated and will be buried at a later date. She was so anxious to be with her loving husband, Donald G. Townsley.

Janice Holtz Townsley was born May 9, 1939, in rural Rudd, IA. She was the daughter of Ralph and Bernice Holtz. She married Don on Aug. 18, 1965, in Galena, IL. Don passed away July 28, 2011. Jan had two sons Craig (Carla) Holtz and Kevin (Liz) Holtz. Don had four children from a previous marriage, Pam (Ken) Boge, Greg (Mary) Townsley, Curt Townsley and Tamera Townsley. There were numerous grandchildren added to this family. Jan had two brothers, Dennis (Patti) Holtz and Doug (Donna) Holtz, and one sister, Marly Holtz. Also important in her life were sisters-in-law Carol (Delmar) Foster and Sally (Dallas) Foster. There were many nieces and nephews so loved.

Jan loved listening to Endless Summer Band with Paula, her niece. She also loved her flowers and her yard and keeping her home up. She also worked in Rudd’s butterfly garden. Jan worked at the Post Office for some time also. Also worked at White Farm in Charles City.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Donald Townsley, sister Marly, son Curtis Townsley, brother-in-law Delmar Foster, and great-grandson Benjamin Boge; also her parents and Donald’s parents.
