Funeral announced for Rockford woman who died in Highway 14 crash near Marble Rock

UPDATE, Saturday, 8:30 p.m. — funeral services were announced Saturday for the 46-year-old Rockford woman who died Friday after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 near Marble Rock. 

Services for Ronda Boekemeier are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. 

The other driver in the crash Rodney Tudor, 51, of Charles City, was injured, the Iowa State Patrol updated its crash report Saturday.

According to the report, the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse driven by  Boekemeier was northbound on Highway 14 near Marble Rock when it crossed the center line, striking a 2012 Ford F350 driven by Tudor that was southbound. 

Boekemeier was pronounced dead at the scene.

AMR Ambulance transported Tudor to the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Boekemeier and her husband, Russell, are parents of one son, Curtis.

She worked at the Meadows in Shell Rock as a CNA.

UPDATE, Friday, 12:30 p.m. —  The Iowa State Patrol is reporting one death in a crash before 7 a.m. Monday on Highway 14 near near Marble Rock.

No names have been released.

According to the State Patrol crash report, a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse was northbound on Highway 14 and crossed the center line, striking a 2012 Ford F350 that was southbound. The driver of the Traverse was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was injured, the report says.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol, which was assisted at the scene by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Marble Rock and Greene fire departments and AMR Ambulance.

The F350 bears the logo of the Iowa Northern Railroad Company.

 

 


FRIDAY, 12:03 P.M. –– Highway 14 is now open to traffic, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office reported in a Facebook post.

The highway had been closed since at least 8 a.m. due to a major accident in the area.

Iowa State Patrol – District 8 are investigating the accident, but at press time have not returned messages for comment.

ORIGINAL: The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is reporting Highway 14 south of B-60, near Marble Rock, is closed due to a major accident.

A supervisor at the Floyd County Medical Center has confirmed one patient was brought to the hospital and is now stable, but would not confirm if the patient was the only person brought to the hospital.

Emergency services are on the scene and not allowing media presence. The Charles City Press has not confirmed how many drivers or passengers were involved.

The sheriff’s office Facebook page is reporting the highway will be closed for several hours. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is responding along with the Marble Rock and Greene fire departments.

The intersection of Highway 14, also known as Lancer Avenue, and B60, also known as 270th Avenue, is surrounded on four side by farm fields. It is controlled by stop signs on 270th to allow highway traffic to pass through unimpeded.

B60 is a main route in and out of Marble Rock.

Fog covering the area at the time of the crash obscured visibility to around a quarter mile, according to the National Weather Service.
