Charles City residents enjoyed a good time at the Wildwood Clubhouse on Friday afternoon as the Community Revitalization Design Committee held its “Swing into Spring” event. The event helps funds committee projects.

Bruce and Janiece Bergland put on a demonstration of their dancing skills, swinging to the tunes of Buddy Holly and other singers from that era.

“It tied into the theme of ‘Swing into Spring,’” said Laura Wallace, chairwoman of the design committee.

The committee is an all-volunteer group dedicated to beautifying and improving downtown Charles City. The committee helps fund the colorful flower pots on Main Street, and also hosts home tours and recently painted all of the vintage light poles along Main Street.

“We’re always looking at ideas,” said Mark Wicks, community development director.
