A dose of snow

Technically it wasn’t the first measurable snowfall of the season, but it was the first snowfall that required the people of Charles City to get their shovels, snowblowers, plows and scoopers out of the shed to clear paths.

Mother Nature dropped more than 3 inches of snow on Charles City Friday night, and then temperatures plummeted into the teens and single digits Saturday night and Sunday to ensure that the white stuff would stick around for at least a few days.

There is no snow in the forecast between now and Thanksgiving, and daytime highs are expected to climb between now and then, into the low-to-mid-30s between today and Wednesday and approaching 40 degrees on Thanksgiving Day. Overnight lows will be in the lower teens tonight, gradually moving up to the mid-20s by the weekend.

There is a slight chance of rain or snow on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
