Staff Report

The Northeast Iowa Conference all-conference girls basketball selections were posted this week. Two Charles City Comets were honored.

Senior Kelsi Crooks was named to the second team. She led the Comets in scoring while averaging 9.1 ppg. Crooks also was the team’s leading rebounder (144) and grabbed 48 offensive boards.

Crooks also was a NEIC first-teamer in volleyball when she helped the Comets advance to the state finals.

Charles City sophomore Jodie Sindlinger was an honorable mention selection.

Sindlinger led the team in field goal percentage and free throw percentage while averaging 6.6 ppg.

In addition to being the team’s prime post-up option on offense, Sindlinger also defended the post well enough to lead the Comets in blocks. She was also second to Crooks in rebounds for the Comets.

Cadet juniors Shannon Pisney and cross country and track star Ellie Friesen were both first-teamers, as were Go-Hawk seniors Payton Draper, Katie Harken and Grace Reyerson.

Other NEIC first-teamers include New Hampton junior Isabel Leichtman and Oelwein sophomore Drew Becker.

Other NEIC second-teamers include New Hampton seniors Lexi Rasmussen and Darian Wegner; Crestwood junior Brynn Boderman; Waverly-Shell Rock sophomore Olivia Phillips; Oelwein junior Amber Rosenstiel; and Waukon sophomore Maddie Ahlstrom.
