Press Staff Report

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office reported a busy day Monday as blowing snow caused slippery conditions on area roads.

“County roads are 100% snow; Ave of Saints is 50-75% snow and ice,” the department reported on its Facebook page Monday morning. “There is considerable blowing snow causing several slick spots and 1 mile visibility or less.”

One accident involved a semi-trailer that lost control on the Avenue of the Saints bridge over Highway 14 and traveled down the embankment, through a narrow row of trees and across a farm field, another Facebook post reported.

The post, which did not identify the driver other than saying the vehicle was from out of state, said the driver was not hurt.
