Allavina “Ella” (Adelmund) Vandeventer

Vandenventer, Allavina-newspaperAllavina “Ella” (Adelmund) Vandeventer, 87, of Charles City, passed away from a long illness Wednesday, February 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service for Ella Vandeventer will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Charles City.  Pastor Ruth Yeaton will officiate.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016 and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Allavina L. Adelmund, the daughter of John and Hulda (LaBond) Adelmund, was born at home August 17, 1928 in Clarksville, Iowa.  Ella received her education in the Charles City and Clarksville schools.  She was united in marriage to Raymond C.Vandeventer on July 14, 1946 in the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa and this union was blessed with six children.

Ella worked at the turkey and chicken plants in Charles City as well as being a Cub Scout den mother, working in her garden, remodeling houses, being involved in church activities and raising her growing family.

Living family members include four sons:  Ray, Jr. (Joann), Richard (Dorothy), Randy (Terri) all of Charles City and Roger of Port Washington, Wisconsin; two daughters:  Gloria (Kennie) Troge and Lorie Barber both of Charles City;  12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one sister, Lena (Gary) Nieman of Waterloo; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Raymond on February 13, 2008; seven sisters:  Pauline Adelmund, Lena May Adelmund, Mildred Adelmund, Lillian Dingle, Harmean Smith, Freida Dow and Nancy Bahlkamp; three brothers:  John, Able and Arnold Adelmund; one granddaughter; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
