Fellow Comets Hemesath, Schlader and Cranshaw also make All-NEIC

For the third time in as many varsity seasons, Charles City junior guard Jackson Molstead has been named to the All-Northeast Iowa Conference boys basketball first team.

Molstead, who exceeded 1,000 career points this past season, led the Comets in scoring (19.0 ppg), assists (167) and steals (37).

Charles City senior Cade Hemesath was selected to his second-straight All-NEIC first team — he was a second-teamer his sophomore year — after leading the team in offensive (50), defensive (116) and total rebounds (166); and blocked shots (34). He also shot 58 percent from the floor while averaging 11.5 ppg.

Comet senior Noah Schlader was named to his second-straight All-NEIC second team. A double-figure scorer, Schlader shot nearly 50 percent from the floor and 43.4 percent from 3-point range while leading the team in 3-point shots made (46). Schlader also had 34 steals.

Senior Mike Cranshaw, who was second on the team in scoring (12.3 ppg), assists (62) and steals (36), was named All-NEIC honorable mention.

Other All-NEIC selections included first-teamers Luke Velky (Waverly-Shell Rock, Sr.) Michael Sweeney (Waukon, Jr.), Keagan John (New Hampton, Sr.), Clayton Ollendieck (Crestwood, Sr.) and Nick Bockman (Decorah, Sr.); second-teamers Dom Robertson (Oelwein, Jr.). Jack Seward (Waverly-Shell Rock, Sr.), Jacob Bahe (Waverly-Shell Rock, Sr.), Abe Schwartz (Waukon, Sr.), Jake Zwanziger (New Hampton, Sr.) and Jerod Redenius (Decorah, Sr.); and Braden Holmquist (Waverly-Shell Rock, Sr.), Isaiah Welch (Waukon, Sr.), Jonah Johnson (Decorah, Sr.), Kristian Szajna (Crestwood, Sr.), Mosai Newsom (Waverly-Shell Rock, Jr.) and Mason Meyer (Oelwein, Jr.) who were all named honorable mention.

* There were several local players named to All-Top of Iowa-East boys basketball teams.

Among the first-teamers were Nashua-Plainfield senior Dayton Hansen, North Butler senior Dylan Clipperson and Rockford senior Zach Bushbaum.

Hansen led the Huskies in scoring (13.7 ppg) while shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range.

Clipperton, who the Bearcats’ all-time leader in steals and assists, led his team in scoring (12.7 ppg), rebounding (100 total), steals (43) and assists (67).

Bushbaum scored 13.2 ppg and shot 77.4 percent from the free-throw line to lead the Warriors in both categories.

Rockford senior Alex Schriever was named to the All-TOIE second team after leading his team in rebounds.

Among those named to the All-TOIE honorable mention squad were Nashua-Plainfield senior Caleb Lines, North Butler senior Sam Dolan and Rockford senior Jake Staudt.
