Back to school

Back to school
It was mostly smiles and excited squeals, but there were a few tears Wednesday as elementary school students returned to the classrooms in the Washington, Lincoln and Immaculate Conception school buildings in Charles City. Some of the students at IC had the opportunity to meet or reacquaint themselves with the IC Tiger mascot. (Press photo James Grob.)

The middle school and the high school resumed class on Monday this week. The heat and humidity prompted the high school to send students home early and close its doors at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. The high school is the only building in the Charles City School District without air conditioning in most of its rooms.
