Charles City and area firefighters respond to garage fire

Charles City and neighboring fire departments were called to a garage fire about 9 o’clock Tuesday evening at 2652 Harvey St. When firefighters arrived smoke was pouring out of the roof of the three-stall unattached structure, and firefighters had to force their way into the divided garage stalls. In one case a door had to be cut apart to gain access.

The garages are part of a three-plex apartment house at that address. Floyd County property records show the property is owned by Amelia Management LLC of Charles City.

Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.
