Rainy weather didn’t dampen turnout for Immaculate Conception Elementary’s second annual 5K Color Run fundraiser on Saturday, May 6.

Starting at the school, runners and walkers signed up for a 5K lap around the neighborhood, getting tagged with colored powders at checkpoints along the way before making their way back to the school for a final blast of color and refreshments.

Organized by the I.C. parents, the color run is a major fundraiser for the group, generating money to purchase school supplies and pay for fieldtrips throughout the year.

Though early morning showers delayed the start of the race to 10 a.m., the sun came out just in time for the postponement to run its course. Organizer Emily Stowe said that most of the roughly 120 people who had signed up came out for the event.
