Dairy Queen gives out free ice cream for spring

Spring got off to a sweet start as Dairy Queen celebrated the first day of the season by giving away free ice cream cones.

“It’s been crazy,” said manager Kayla Hallisey. “We’ve been busy all day.”

Part of a company-wide promotion, Dairy Queen marks the first day of spring with “Free Cone Day,” offering a small vanilla soft-serve cone to customers of participating stores.

Going through ten crates of vanilla for the soft-serve machine, Hallisey guessed that they would hand out more than 750 cones throughout the day as people lined up for the free treat.
