The curtain rises next week on “Trap,” the upcoming spring play for the Charles City High School Drama Department.

Premiering at the Charles Theater 7 p.m. on Friday, March 29, with a 2 p.m. encore performing on Saturday, “Trap” is a meta performance of a documentary-style investigation into a strange event where every person in the audience of a high school play except one has suddenly fallen unconscious.

“This show has been an interesting one to prepare for,” said Director Erika Joiner. “Since it’s all set up documentary style with interviews, I had to figure out how to place everybody to make it make sense.”

Featured in the play are Savannah Baldus, Kaity Heckers, Jacob Diers, DaShawn Griffin, Kati Haglund, Jacob Jones, Blake Hoeft, Blake Dean, Ana Tutu, Norah Massawe, Alexia Clark, Camryn Hoeft, Gracie Opp, Thane Howlett, Destiny Squier, Ally Wedeking, Aden Hunnie, Kayla Streich, Keleigh Krueger, Adeline King, Nyssa Salinas, Lillie Mohring, and Simon Tutu.

Stage Manager Addison Tracey will be working behind the scenes alongside Natalie Keyes, Jenna Aikey, Braelynn Painter, Emily Jones, Zadie Pittman, Lisa Ryan, and Leah Dettmer.

“These students have been great with being patient and rolling with whatever I throw at them,” said Joiner. “Everyone in the cast and crew has been working super hard to learn their part.”
