Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird visited Charles City on Thursday, March 21, to take a look at the work being done on the Charles City Depot.

“I just think trains are neat,” said Bird, who was visiting the area to familiarize herself with the happenings of North Iowa.

Bob Moen gave Bird a tour of the depot and a couple of the train cars, showing how passengers traveled during the heyday of rail and explaining how the building was moved from across the street to its current location and the work they are planning to restore and convert it into The American Passenger Train History Museum.

“This is really impressive,” said Bird, complimenting the organization’s initiative in preserving a part of Charles City’s history. “It’s a really neat thing.”
