The Floyd County Cattlemen’s Association hosted its annual fundraiser banquet on Saturday, March 23.
With 280 tickets sold, people flocked out to the Floyd County Fairgrounds to enjoy an evening out and a prime rib dinner.
Donated items from area businesses and families were on display for people to bid on in both a silent auction and live auction to support the Cattlemen’s Association.
“Money from the auctions goes to scholarships,” said association President Joe Paulus.
Along with providing an update to the audience about their upcoming summer grilling activities, the beef enthusiasts also presented scholarship awards to eleven students and named Taylor Quade as this year’s Beef Queen.
Putting on a dinner for more than 200 people is a big effort for the nine-member board. From organizing the meal to collecting donations for the auction and door prizes, it took every member and some of their spouses to bring everything together.
“It’s a lot of leg work and phone calls,” said Vice-President Matt Hoeft. “We had a list and everybody goes their own direction.”
The cattlemen’s association has worked hard to get the word out that you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the fundraiser banquet and the board was pleased that the big turnout brought in people from around the county to enjoy the dinner.
“It’s just kind of a relaxing evening,” said Paulus.
