Love and Respect Marriage Retreat planned for Oct. 30

To receive information about registering for this years Fall Marriage Retreat, which will focus on “Developing A Loving and Respectful Marriage,” please contact the Charles City Evangelical Free Church Office at 641-228- 2780. The retreat will be held on Friday evening Oct. 30. The Retreat is held at Rock River Retreat Center near Webster City.

Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd will be hosting a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6-7 p.m. The event is free.

Enjoy ‘Taste of Charles City,’ Chamber auction

The Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce will host “A Taste of Charles City” on Wednesday, Oct. 28, during its annual meeting and auction event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus Club … and the general public is invited.

Five local restaurants and caterers will be set up to showcase and offer tastings of a variety of appetizers, desserts, soups and specialty items.

In addition, a silent auction will take place until 7 p.m.

featuring a wide assortment of items and gift baskets donated by Chamber member businesses. Enjoy socializing and networking with Chamber members, a photo scavenger hunt and more.

Floyd County Relay for Life 2016 Fall Kickoff planned for Nov. 7

The Floyd County Relay for Life 2016 Fall Kickoff event is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at IC Church in Charles City.

The event will have something for everyone: Things old and new, crafts, home-baked goods, concession stand, Scentsy, thirty-one door prize drawings at 1 p.m.

All money raised goes to the American Cancer Society to fight cancer in Iowa.

Angi Tudor will open an online Scentsy party starting Saturday through Nov. 8.

Anyone can order until the eighth. She will take orders at the event and will have items to sell there. She is giving 15 percent of total sales to the American Cancer Society.

IC Angels are doing “purple cows,” or ice cream floats with grape soda.

Chemo-Saw-Bee will have baked goods.

Survivors, Inc. will have quilted bags, aprons, decorated foot stools, crocheted kitchen towels and potholders, decorated pinecones, and more.

Senior citizens invited to enjoy bowling in CC

Senior Citizens 50 years old and older are invited to come bowling for exercise and fun every Tuesday and Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Comet Bowl in Charles City. Bowl as many games as desired.
