Mason City man gets 25 years for theft, arson at Subway

MASON CITY (AP) — A Mason City man has been given 25 years in prison for breaking into a Subway restaurant and setting it aflame late last year.

Court records say 23-year-old Ethan Miller was sentenced Tuesday in Cerro Gordo County District Court. A jury convicted him last month of arson, theft and possession of a controlled substance. Authorities say Miller was an employee when he broke into the restaurant while it was closed on Dec. 29. Investigators say they think Miller had intended to commit a theft.

The restaurant was heavily damaged and was closed six months for repairs.
