Charles City man pronounced dead at motorcycle, semi crash scene

A 23-year old Charles City man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash on Sunday in rural Floyd County.

Thomas “T.J.” Houdek was crossing highway 18 from Quarry Road when his motorcycle was struck by a semi truck, driven by Joshua Brood of Plainfield, the Iowa State Patrol reported Monday. Reports say Brood, 44, braked in an attempt to avoid a collision, causing his vehicle to roll and eject Brood from the driver’s seat. Brood was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of pending funeral arrangements.
